Moving out of your Madison Apartment

For many Madison WI students moving out of their Madison WI apartment or rental is just right around the corner. Moving is not necessarily what you would think of as a “fun time”, but it doesn’t have to be such a drag if you get organized and do some simple planning ahead. Utilize some of the tips below to help make moving out of your Madison WI apartments a smoother transition than perhaps moving in was.

Madison WI Apartment Moving Tips

1. Make a Moving List
sometimes creating a “plan of attack” can help make moving much less hectic. Create a Moving plan, and stick to it!

2. Have plenty of supplies
Make sure to plan ahead and get moving supplies. You are going to need plenty of boxes, tape, and garbage bags. Many Madison WI grocery stores are more than happy to give you empty boxes free of charge.

3. Color coordinate boxes and bags
using a color coding system on boxes (such as certain color marker for bedroom stuff, and another for kitchen, etc…) can make unpacking at the new place much easier!

4. Pack ahead
Don’t wait till the day of the move to start throwing things into boxes. Start packing your belongings up a few weeks ahead of time. This breaks up the work load and makes things much easier on the day of the move.

5. Recruit help
If you have friends and/or family willing to lend you some of their time to help with the move, take them up on it! The more hands you have to help the quicker you can make the move from your current Madison WI apartment to your new one!
